Burner 101

Saguaro Man is a multi-day camping event held in Willcox, AZ in April.
Everyone who attends is responsible for their own basic needs—food, water, shelter, and supplies—and there are no vendors, sponsors, or paid experiences once you arrive. Instead, the event is powered entirely by the creativity and effort of the people who attend.
What you get in return is access to a temporary community filled with art, performances, workshops, music, and social spaces that exist only for the duration of the event.
What Happens at Burner Events?
Throughout the long weekend, participants create and share experiences for one another, including:
Public Art
Large-scale installations, interactive pieces, and experimental art brought by attendees specifically for Saguaro Man. Art is placed throughout the event for you to explore, interact with, and enjoy.

Theme Camps
Groups of participants who set up camps that offer something to the community. These offerings might include:
Live Music or DJ sets
Workshops, talks, or skill-shares
Performances and games
Social spaces, lounges, or dance floors

Nothing is sold, and participation is always optional.
Art Cars (Mutant Vehicles)
Creatively modified vehicles that move around the event, often playing music or hosting small pop-up experiences. They help connect different parts of the event and add energy, especially at night.

Center Camp
A central gathering area that serves as a hub for art, scheduled programming, and meeting up with friends. It’s a common reference point and a place to discover what’s happening.

What This Event Is (and Isn’t)
- This is a campout. You must arrive prepared to be self-sufficient in a desert environment.
- This is not a spectator event. There is no main stage and no audience—engagement is part of the experience.
- This is not a marketplace. Money has no use inside the event.
- This is a shared responsibility. Participants respect one another and the land, and leave no trace by cleaning up everything they bring in.

You don’t need to build an art installation or host a camp to attend—just curiosity, participation, and respect for others.
Who Should Come?
Saguaro Man is for people who enjoy:
- Camping and self-reliance
- Art, creativity, and experimentation
- Community-driven experiences
- Participating rather than spectating

First-timers are welcome. No prior experience is required—just preparation, openness, and a willingness to engage.
