Drone Policy

Drone pilots should be prepared to show their drone, verify their registration at the gate, and receive any additional briefings or potential changes in drone policy. 

Drones can ONLY be operated during the following hours:

  1. Day – Noon – 2pm
  2. Night – 6pm – 8pm

Drones may not be operated during Temple burn without explicit written permission from the event leads.

  1. Drones must maintain a minimum altitude of 100 feet except during take off and landing. Takeoffs and landings must be vertical.
  2. No photography or video is to be taken during take off or landing. All camera work needs to be done above 100 feet.
  3. Drones must maintain a minimum altitude of 200 feet during burn events and 100 horizontal feet away from any burning art structure.
  4. Drones must maintain a distance of 100 horizontal feet from any emergency vehicles and emergency services camps.
  5. Drones are prohibited from hovering directly over campsites.
  6. Drones are prohibited from filming camps displaying “no drone” flags.
  7. Drones need to limit flight to the AZBurner owned property and the BLM land to the west of our property. Do NOT fly over our neighbors to the North, East or South.
  8. The Saguaro Man photography policy applies to drone pilots.
  1. Pilots must maintain visual contact with their drones at all times during flight. 
  2. Drones must be equipped with functioning lights to ensure visibility during low-light conditions.
  3. Pilots must adhere to all relevant aviation regulations and guidelines, including those set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
